ABOUT / THE FAN BEHIND THE LAB
DONNIE'S LAB
A personal Donatello fan project built by Laura.
BUILT BY LAURA
POWERED BY AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF DONATELLO.
Donnie's Lab is a personal fan project I built as a hobby around my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
What started as a place to celebrate Donatello grew into an archive of the different ways writers, artists, actors and animators have interpreted him since 1984—from the Mirage comics and the 1987 cartoon to the movies, 2003, IDW, 2012, Rise and Mutant Mayhem.
I'm not trying to build an encyclopedia of everything TMNT. This site is deliberately Donnie-focused: the stories I think matter, the technology worth remembering, the performances that changed him, the collectibles I find interesting, and the little details that make one version of Donatello completely different from another.
Mostly, this exists because I'm a fan and I wanted to build something fun around a character I've always liked.
— Laura
ONE DONNIE AT A TIME.
Mirage, Fred Wolf, the films, 2003, IDW, 2012, Rise and Mutant Mayhem are treated as distinct interpretations. The site does not pretend every invention, personality trait or story happened to one composite Donatello.
STORIES BEFORE SLOGANS.
I build entries around the comics, episodes, films and performances I am actually talking about, then add my own fan interpretation. If I find better context—or realize I got something wrong—the site can change. That is part of the fun of keeping a fan archive.
UNOFFICIAL FAN ARCHIVE.
